Weekend Happenings

We had quite the weekend. Today our whole family went to an authentic Chinese food dinner. Damon's friend invited us to his baby shower...it's tradition when the baby is one month old to have a dinner. There was nearly a hundred people there. I couldn't begin to explain how much food there was...an eleven course meal. The kids did so well at trying new things outside the norm. The girls tried almost everything there was...even a few things I wouldn't touch. I'm sure Dae and l will always remember Lucy's expression when she saw the chicken head in front of her on the serving tray. She asked in front of everyone at our table, "Why is there a chicken head on there?" Luckily everyone else laughed and also understood the disturbance in her voice. That experience is now a fun memory.

What else we did...

Dae and Kandus went to Home Depot together on Saturday to get some rakes. I had so much laundry to do that day........there I was, coming up the stairs from the laundry room when I caught Kandus' glance...she was coming down the stairs, smiling from ear to ear. Then I realized what she was holding...
another Jack.
My first reaction was that I couldn't stop smiling...it was a complete surprise. Then I cried. It was definitely about time. Our family needs him. I can feel it in my motherly bones.
Why did we name him Jack again?
We couldn't possibly name him something else could we? After all, none of us feel like we got our fill with Jack last time. I heard Lucy say about twenty times yesterday, "I can't believe we have a dog."
Jack is quite a bit different than our last Jack...he is spunky, playful, happier, and healthier.
We are happy to have him.
