Kids Artwork and Lucy Strikes Again

Watercolor art dinosaur by Deac
and comic by Lucy.
Yet another hilarious comic by Lucy.
In Deac's words, "Mom Lucy drew all these super hero's. The boy shoots fire out of his belly button, the grandma shoots dentures out of her mouth and the girl can fart confetti."

A Brown Eyed Susan Daisy

To my mother: who loves brown eyed susan daisies.

I am running on tiptoes through fields of brown eyed susan daisies; laughing, twirling, and dancing.
With my arms outstretched, I easily brush each one with my fingertips and feel the softness of their petals.
Reaching up to my waist, they are strong and tall;
warm golden yellow like the glowing sun, they remind me.
With a center, round and dark, brown like the color of your eyes.
Suddenly I STOP.
All is completely still, but the whispering of the grass and the flowers in the wind.
I turn my head and happily gaze at what is all around me...
All I can see is you,
and ten thousand of your beautiful brown eyes, smiling back at me.
Love,
your Anna Panda Pooper

Welcome Home Sign and Valentine Boxes

No matter how many times I have tried to save one of the many cool signs Lucy makes for dad or any one of us to reuse, she doesn't want it. She likes to make new ones. I guess it is all in the doing it that means something to her, which I totally understand. It is never expected, but I love that she does that for us. The kids spent the evening doing crafty things...

Troll Princesses

Lucy drew these troll princesses when she was home from school sick. They crack me up.
Do you know your princesses?

Comic Strips By Lucy

For Vocabulary in school, Lucy would choose the hardest assignment that included drawing a picture for each word. They are always hilarious and actually better than I could do.

Sick Day Art

You know when you are sick enough to stay home from school, but not sick enough that you feel like staying in bed all day? Those are the days my friend...
For Lucy, staying home from school on those kind of sick days are an exciting excuse to have an full on art day. Like practicing your 3-D block letters, making a rainbow colored scroll with the numbers 1-1000, or drawing eyes in all different colors! The possibilities are endless.

Sip It Slowly

Fading.
The door opens,
I cross over.
At first nothing,
Then everything.
The warm humidity of life smells like...
Dirt and flowers,
Fruit and fire.
Beating down deaths door.
Sip it slowly,
Deeply.
Awaken,
To clarity.
Live...AGAIN!

We(Annie and I) have a new idea. We each write something and draw or take a picture of something and give it to the other. We match the picture with some literature and the literature with a picture. Then bring them together to see what we created together. We are hoping the kids will be interested in participating as well. It will be a fun family experiment.
