UINTAS~ Little Rascals and The Goodbye

While we were up here Deac said he wanted to learn to ride his bike without training wheels, just like the girls were doing. Before taking his training wheels off, Dae warned him that they would not be put back on if they were taken off. Deac was all for it. He wasn't too thrilled with the idea after a while though. Dae and I tried to help him but to no avail, he didn't want anything to do with it and gave up his bike for a few of the days up here. Here Dae is trying to get Deac to let him try to help him after taking a small spin on it himself and making Deac laugh.
 Our campground.
The little rascals(girls) riding around the circle with their friends Savannah and Alyssa one last time...or two...or THREE.
Saying goodbye until another year is so hard to do.
Goodbye Yellowstone and Riverview campgrounds, our long time friends.

UINTAS~ Fishing Is An ART

Deac thought it was so funny trying to get the wriggling worm to hold still while he hooked it and sentenced it to a most certain death. You can see the sheer joy on his face clearly.
After several minutes he succeeded and he was happy.
Out on the river with Dad one last time before we leave this beautiful place we call our second home.
A RAINBOW TROUT was finally caught with a little help from Dad.

UINTAS 2012~ Hike To The Meadow

We actually made it to the meadow this year! The first time I have been up there since before we had kids. It took us nearly all day to get there and back. The girls fished up there and Dae taught them how to put a worm on a hook. It was so funny to watch.
Driving up to the trailhead. Deac wanted to sit in his booster seat in the back of the truck.

(Taking a break on the trail to the meadows. Lucy and I with mouthfuls of trail mix.)
Jack is tuckered out from having way too much fun chasing scents of squirrels and rabbits. He looks dead.
Dun dun dun!!!...THE WORMS.
(The first time you hook a worm is always pretty gross and exciting!)

On the way back we had an encounter with a humming bird. It was buzzing around those of us with bright colors on for about 5 minutes. We were laughing so hard and at the same time a little freaked out when it was suddenly by our heads buzzing in our ears. This is the only picture I could get clear enough.
Hiking back.

UINTAS~ Moon Lake

(A day of swimming at Moon Lake)
Lucy running to tell us that there is sinking mud!! And how exciting it is!
(A sinking problem)
Deac is not too happy at the moment.
(Kandus and Alyssa)
(Dae with his cool desert storm hat)
(Jack warming up on the sand)

A very muddy Lucy telling us once again, how amazing Moon Lake is. We will be back.

UINTAS~ First Time Fishing With Dad

Deac has never fished before. Last year he was completely content catching grasshoppers and throwing rocks and sticks. But something has changed in Deac in the last year and he has been itching to catch a fish. So Dae and I decided to take a walk in the evening to the river with him to practice alone. Here they are preparing. Dae is showing Deac how to tie on a hook...
Off we go down the winding dirt trail for an adventure.
The weather was perfect and the river was calming as I sat there and watched them.
 Trying on his own.
Regretfully, no fish were caught on this night. His dream of reeling in a REAL LIFE fish with his fishing pole and then holding it in his hands, will have to wait for yet another day.
