The Verdict On Religion

I have decided for myself, without any doubt, that the religion I grew up believing in is NOT true. In fact, I have decided that there is absolutely no religion that is true and that every religious person on this earth, no matter the religion, has the same conviction telling them that theirs is the right one. I believe religion to be manmade and changed through centuries of time. I am not sure what I believe about a god at this moment, I can hope but I cannot KNOW. The thing is...it's ok with me that I don't have all the answers right now. I am now free to make my own beliefs about god, if and when those facts present themselves. I believe there is no assurance of an afterlife. I can hope, but I can't believe or have faith in something just because the prospect sounds nice. I have realized that it is even more important that I cherish each day I have on this earth, because we just can't know for sure what is after. Whether there ends up being a god in the end or not, no matter what our religions tell us, there can only be one actuality and no one is immune.
I will be taking my name off the records of the church and so will Dae. He promised me that he never would unless I wanted it too (I never thought I would). It was I that came to him and said I NEEDED my name off and that I was making an appt with the bishop. I needed to be free of what I believed was a lie. I needed to show my children that I now believed in something with all my heart, and when you really believe in something important, you do it whole heartedly. I needed to make a stand for all the people that have been mistreated and lied to. I needed it like I needed to treat something that was broken. My future without a religion telling me what is right and what isn't, regardless of how I feel, is bright and more meaningful to me. I have become free to determine what I think about things all on my own. I feel I'm an eagle breaking free from a life in it's cage. I can't stop smiling. I am free.
