First things first...
As we all walked in the room single file, and youngest to oldest, I noticed Lucy took a deliberate detour towards the Christmas tree to where the present we all picked out for Jack lay. She kept her eyes away from her "pile" laying neatly on the end of the couch, and gave Jack his present instead.
Why did she do this?
She said, "I can't look. I'm afraid it's going to be coal."
Well, it wasn't coal....Did she deserve coal?
I don't think so, but who knows.
(Lucy holding her Madame Alexander doll Dorothy, from the Wizard of Oz. Just what she wanted!)
(Deac checking out his remote control car.)
(Kandus opening a present from Deac.)
Dae opening Lucy's present while Kandus records it.
Grandma LuJean and Grandpa Bart with the kids.
Our family Christmas picture.
Later that evening, Mom and Dad open a present from all of us.
It was a wonderful Christmas day.
P.S. Concerning Christmas Eve....
On Christmas Eve morning just after breakfast our family got to open one and only one present under the Christmas tree. It was even the biggest present! Inside it was games. Lots of games. Board games, card games, and a puzzle. Finally, we can play something besides Candy Land and Uno!
While snow was dumping the world outside making our Christmas a white one, our family spent the ENTIRE day playing games. Nowhere else we needed to be, nothing at all pressing to do.
I count that day as one of the funnest days we've had as a family I can remember.
