"Just So You Know"

Picture of Lucy curling Katie's hair- December 26, 2011(the day after Christmas)

"Just so you know....."
"For some reason...."
"Anyways...."
Just so you know...these are the words Lucy says most often, starting most sentences.(I usually can't help cracking a smile)

****

Lately Lucy has been saving up her money so that she can buy a Smash Book. They are VERY cool, by the way.
Do you remember Kandus and I got one for Christmas?
Well, Lucy's been reminding me before school the past few days to remember to ask her to do "a big job" when she gets home so that she can earn money. She asked if I thought anyone would pay her to do some yard work, like any neighbors or...me? And I told her "yes". Tonight she jumped at the chance to earn 2 quarters for wiping Jacks slimy 3" long drool off his lips when no one else would.(I would have, I just didn't want to get off the couch....just so you know.)
She has also been finding mysterious unclaimed coins all over the house. Remember doing that?
I sure do....
I remember how rich I thought I was back then whenever I found a dirty quarter tucked deep inside the old hide-a-bed. The times that I really struck it rich though were the times that my older brother's Ken and Mckay would let me and my sisters have all of the change we could find, on the floor and in their pants pockets(not wallets), if we cleaned up their bedroom. Believe me when I say that their bedroom was a frightening sight, not to mention the accumulating smell. Especially to a girlfriend or a maid of any age.
Actually, I probably would have cleaned their room without the extra cash because I always felt like I got more out of it than just money. Like I did a great service to the world or something. I'm pretty sure my sisters would say the same thing...It was a pretty good feeling.

There were always strict instructions to abide by when taking on the job(by Ken only, not really Mckay.) Like, "jeans had to be washed on hot so they would maintain their tightness....remember not to dry those...and don't mess with our stuff on the dresser." But other than that, the deal was always worth it. They never knew what treasures they had hiding underneath the mountainous piles of stinky laundry. Most times we came away happy and quite a bit richer.
But, I don't believe we ever told them that.
