Where I was on 9-11

I was 8 1/2 months pregnant with Kandus that day. Tens years ago today I remember waking up on a regular day. I remember the anticipation...a baby, finally so close in our future, after waiting so long. I remember feeling so big, awkward, and uncomfortable. And pretty sure I couldn't run if my life depended on it.
I got myself a Yo-plait yogurt and a spoon and gathered my things to head out the door for a couple hours of work at Valley Mill Works, the family Mill. That's when I heard LuJean's knock on the door. She was my ride. It took me less than a split second to realize that something was wrong. The first thing she told me through her tears was, "Did you hear what happened?"

On my work break I went to a nearby gas station. I remember standing there with a dozen or so people just like me, baffled with eyes fixated on a television screen where we watched the second tower fall...

I couldn't believe it was real.
