Purple

Yesterday Lucy told me out of the blue, "Mom, blue and pink make purple."

"You're right" I said.(She knows her colors better than I do.)

"Purple is one of my favorite colors," she reminded me.

A little while later I told her she could have some gum off my dresser.

I heard her chuckling nervously to herself and in my direction, but not looking at me.

She said this exactly, "What was I thinking what I was doing? I accidentally got blue gum and pink gum and now I have purple."
